Requirements when Performing
Procedures Below the Dermis
Basic Procedures
be competent to perform the procedure;
perform the procedure only if permitted by their certificate of registration (see Table 1);
not perform if prohibited by their terms, conditions and limitations ; and
adhere to all employer policies.
Advanced Procedures
Satisfy all requirements of a basic procedure, and also:
complete a CRTO approved certification program;
ensure that their certification program is up-to-date with the best
evidence-based clinical practice; and
re-certify every two (2) years.

Please Note:
A valid order (direct order or a medical directive) is required to perform both a basic and
advanced prescribed procedure below the dermis. For additional information on orders,
